George Knight

Mr. George J. Knight, 93, a resident of Greenville, passed away on Feb. 22. Funeral services were held Feb. 27 at the Butler Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Greenville. Interment followed in Magnolia Cemetery. Carter Rice & West Funeral Home of Greenville directed the arrangements.

George Knight, Jr. was born April 14, 1922, to George Knight, Sr. and Velma McCastle Knight.

He married the late Eloise Zeigler and to this union two daughters were born. He also has one son who preceded him in death, Jessie Stewart. He confessed his life to Christ at an early age. He joined Pine Flat A.M.E. Zion Church and later moved his membership to Butler Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.

George was always smiling and living a simple life. Family was very important to him. When his family was together, he was always complete. He was also a big Atlanta Braves fan.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Verdele Ford and Louise Lawson; two brothers, Johnny Knight and Malachi Knight.

He lives on through his daughters, Lanetta K. (MacArthur) Rudolph, Letohatchee, Ala., and Darlene Knight, Greenville, Ala.; five grandchildren, Fonda K. (Jason) Posey, Greenville, Ala., Macio Rudolph, Letohatchee, Ala., Janice Hambrick, Leesburg, Fla., Jessie Stewart, Jr., Clermont, Fla., and Gerald Stewart, Grand Island, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Arlyric and Javion Posey; one aunt, Daisy Holly, Pensacola, Fla.; four nephews, Ricky (Martha) Lawson and Randy (Hattie) Lawson both of Greenville, Ala., Torry Knight, Pensacola, Fla., and Ricardo (Ruth) Peagler, Chesapeak, Va.; three nieces, Brenda (John) Sanders, Tracy K. (Vance) Brandon, Cassaundra Peagler, all of Pensacola, Fla.; and a host of cousins and friends, and a devoted neighbor, Robert Crittenden and community.
