Six students from Fort Dale Academy have been selected for the 2016 Alabama All-State Choir.
Sydni Bowers Mary Claire Carlton, Lynn Choi, Caitlin Edgar, Meagan Edgar, and Xada Ingram were selected for the choir.
Bowers was named to the Middle School Treble Choir. Bowers is a 7th grader at Fort Dale and is in her first year in choir.
Carlton, Choi, Caitlin Edgar, Meagan Edgar and Ingram have been selected for the SSA Choir. Carlton and Choi are seniors at Fort Dale. Caitlin Edgar is a sophomore and Meagan Edgar and Ingram are freshmen. This is Bowers and Miss Carlton’s first year to participate in All-State Choir. Ingram and Meagan Edgar were also selected last year. This is the third year in a row that Choi has been selected and the fourth year in a row that Caitlin Edgar has been selected.
In order to be selected for the choir, students undergo a rigorous audition process. Approximately 1,000 students from the state at large are chosen to make up the five choirs. Those selected spend three days at Samford University, working with world-class clinicians and composers to prepare a special concert performance. The festival and concert will be March 3-5 at Samford University in Birmingham.
Choi received one of the top 50 scores in the state during auditions. Because of this accomplishment, she has been selected to sing in the solo group at the all-state concert.
The students are under the direction of Cindy Edgar.
