A Brantley man was sentenced to a 10-year split sentence Tuesday in connection with the 2014 shooting death of a Luverne teenager.

Taylor Driggers, who will serve three years of his 10-year sentence in prison, pleaded guilty to manslaughter. The other seven years of Driggers’ sentence will be served under suspended confinement.

Driggers shot and killed 18-year-old Kristin Danielle Fuller on New Years Day 2014.

Fuller was killed by a single shot, fired from a 12-gauge shotgun, at a residence on County Road 29 around 4:30 a.m., according to Crenshaw County District Attorney Charlotte Tesmer.

Tesmer said alcohol is believed to have been a factor.

Driggers, who was 19 at the time of the shooting, was a part of Brantley High School’s 2012 state championship team and had planned to play football at Troy University, where he and Fuller were students.

Fuller graduated from Crenshaw Christian Academy in 2013.
