A new merging is on the horizon for local insurance company Norman Insurance.
The company will soon be partnered with five other corporations to form one company called Insurance Solutions Group. This merger will help market the corporations better and will show customers that these groups are now a united front.
John C. Norman started working with insurance in 1981. In 1994, he formed his own practice, Norman Insurance. In 2004, Norman sold his company to Turner Insurance and Bonding. Four years later, he joined with Griffin Wilkes in Troy, Ala., and bought back Norman Insurance. Since teaming with Griffin Wilkes, it has expanded into five different cities around Alabama: Auburn, Montgomery, Troy, Abbeville and Greenville. These five groups will soon become Insurance Solutions Group.
Along with the news of the merger, Norman Insurance has also welcomed a new employee to the family. Greenville native Ryan Smith, a 2010 graduate of Greenville High School, has recently joined the Norman Insurance team and is very thankful to be back in his hometown.
“I had no idea what I wanted to do after graduation. I had an interest in insurance, so went and talked to Jimmy Gardner at State Farm and he told him to get an insurance degree at Troy,” said Smith.
After pursuing his degree, he began looking for jobs and found an opening back home.
“I’m glad to be in Greenville. I know a lot of people here so that’s a big help,” said Smith.
Norman said the company is fortunate to be able to add Smith to its team.
“We were so very fortunate to find Mr. Smith,” said Norman. “He fit every criteria that we had. He’s a local guy, folks know him and they realize that he’s not a kid anymore. I am absolutely delighted to have him with us. He is exactly what we needed.”
For the foreseeable future, Norman Insurance will continue to operate under its original name while the details of the merger are completed.
