The Second Judicial Drugs Task Force recovered $36,000 worth of marijuana Tuesday from a house on Pine Apple Highway.

Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden said that officers with the Task Force and BCSO deputies were executing a search warrant on an unrelated case, which led to the discovery of an indoor marijuana grow operation. Harden declined to comment on the unrelated case, citing an ongoing investigation.

George Whittle, 54, was arrested and is being charged with possession of marijuana, first degree.

“He had lights and a timer set up,” Harden said.

Authorities also found approximately $250 of moonshine in the residence and have charged Whittle with possession of illegal or untaxed liquor.

“It doesn’t look like he was producing it,” Harden said. “There were no stills found.”

Authorities also seized a number of firearms from the house.

“The guns were taken because of the felony charge,” Harden said.
