Officers with the Greenville Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting Saturday that left an 18-year-old Greenville man dead.
According to Capt. Justin Lovvorn, Terrance Marsh, 24, has been arrested and charged with murder following the fatal shooting of Jermone Watkins.
Lovvorn said Marsh was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, first degree.
Lovvorn said an earlier disagreement between Marsh and Watkins triggered the shooting, which occurred just before 3 p.m. on Saturday.
According to Greenville Police Chief Lonzo Ingram, the shooting occurred on Fields Street. After being shot, authorities believe Watkins ran to Oglesby Street where his body was later found by officers outside a house.
“Medics arrived and advised (the responding officers) that the victim was deceased,” Lovvorn said. “Investigators were notified and worked quickly to develop a suspect. A short time later, Terrance Marsh became a person of interest.”
Authorities located Marsh approximately two hours after the shooting and he was taken to the police station for questioning.
“After collecting evidence from two separate locations, and interviewing witnesses, we were able to charge Terrance Marsh with murder, as well as the other charges,” Lovvorn said.
Marsh was arrested at 9 p.m. Saturday.
He is being held in the Butler County Correctional Facility.
