The Flying Squadron is once again without a basketball coach.
Superintendent Terry Holley said Friday Eurosius Parker would not be taking the position, after all.
“We’re just going in a different direction,” he said.
Parker was to fill the spot left vacant by Joe Proctor last month. Since Proctor resigned, Principal Randall Fullington has stood in as coach of the basketball team.
Athletic director Doug Bailey said Fullington would continue that role.
“Mr. Fullington will finish the season as coach. As of now, no rescheduling is planned. Everything will be played as scheduled,” Bailey said.
Crenshaw’s board of education accepted Fullington’s recommendation to hire Parker at Tuesday night’s meeting, pending all required paperwork.
Parker, who coached football at a Georgia school, had also planned to act as an assistant coach during football season. The Greenville native would have served as instructor of Highland Home’s in-school suspension program, a position also left vacant by Proctor.
