The Greenville Community Theatre will host a Valentine’s Day mystery dinner theater show, titled “Dirk Smirk, Secret Agent” on Valentine’s weekend. The audience can expect a good laugh as the cast presents a comedy based show about an agency that is threatened when a terrorist organization devises an evil plot to control the world by capturing the Madame De Vascalles Sisters. Only Dirk Smirk and the “Impossibly” beautiful Captain Tremaine can save the day.
Dirk Smirk and the “Impossibly” beautiful Captain Tremaine work for The Department, headed by Grainger and his secretary Goodpenny. The Department is battling STINK, Super Terror Intimidation Network Kommand, headed by the evil Russian mastermind Anastasia Kazmarov. Kazmarov and her agents want to control the world, and to do that, they plan on kidnapping Madame V, head of the World Council of Governments. It’s up to Smirk and his team to save the day.
“The play is really funny,” said Greenville Community Theatre president Mollie Waters. “It’s a bit of James Bond meets Get Smart.” Waters said that due to limited seating at Camellia City Bakery and the High Horse Gallery, only 80 tickets are available for purchase. “Tickets will go fast, so anyone interested in attending the show will want to stop by and pick up a ticket as soon as they get a chance. Tickets can be purchased at Camellia City Bakery and should be available for purchase this week,” said Waters.
Jimmy Ansley secured his spot to play Grainger in the show. Ansley describes Grainger’s character as a bit of a high-strung, worried type of personality. Ansley feels like he and Grainger’s personality are similar in some regard and said that he looks forward to playing the part. “The show will be somewhat audience interactive and promises to be the most fun evening that cast members and the audience has had in a while,” said Ansley. “It’s a detective story with several comedic twists. It is hilariously funny.” Ansley, who is an active member of the Greenville Area Arts Council and the Greenville Community Theatre, said that he enjoys any performing arts. “It’s exciting to be a part of these amazing performing arts groups here in Greenville. We are always looking for new members and encourage new talent and participation. Everyone has something to offer, no matter what his or her talent,” said Ansley.
Cast members for the show include: Jimmy Ansley as Grainger, Cierra Oswald as Goodpenny, Dent Neilson as Dirk Smirk, Amber Newton as the “Impossibly” beautiful Captain Tremaine, Donna Marie Crocker as Professor Pretorius, Johnna Pitts as Anatasia Kazmarov, Amber Olney as Agent 1, Stacy Sellers Davis as Agent 2, Shannon Middleton as Madame V, Earline Johnson as The Ambassador, Williams Smith as Marvin Starkley, Jeff Blackmon as Commander Molstrop, and Willie Nell Johnson as Police Officer.
