Have you ever thought about learning a new language?  Well, now, you can – and it’s only a click away.

The Luverne Public Library now offers the Mango Languages online language-learning system to its patrons. Mango is free for all library patrons and can be accessed anywhere with an Internet connection.

“We are really excited to be able to offer this new, educational link to our patrons,” Director Kathryn Tomlin said. “And the fact that our patrons can actually use this language program for free makes us want to get the word out to more and more people,” Tomlin said. “Mango Languages offers a fast and convenient solution for our community’s increasing language-learning needs.”

Each lesson combines real-life situations and audio from native speakers with simple, clear instructions. The courses are presented with an appreciation for cultural nuance and real-world application by focusing on the four key elements of language learning: vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and culture.

Users can learn actual everyday conversation in their choice of over 60 foreign language courses available, plus 16 English as a Second Language (ESL) courses.

“Some people need to learn a second language for business or travel,” Tomlin said. “Others want to learn for personal or professional development.”

In addition, Mango’s new “Religious & Scholarly Course Collection” includes Scholarly Latin, Ancient and Biblical Greek, and Biblical Hebrew.

“If you’re looking to learn a new language and meet new cultures from near and far, you’ve found the right place,” Tomlin said. “From Spanish and French to Azerbaijani, English, and even Pirate, it’s got you covered.”
