McKenzie’s town council tied up some loose ends for the annual Christmas parade during its Monday night meeting at town hall.

The parade, which is slated for Saturday at 10 a.m. downtown, will feature floats and even the school’s marching band.

McKenzie Mayor Lester Odom Jr. said most of the Christmas decorations are up around town.

Odom suggested at the meeting that the council provide doughnuts and water for the band.

For the parade route, the council approved blocking Hartley Street.

To judge the floats that will be featured in the parade, the council voted to have a panel.

In other business, the council:

• discussed the town garbage truck having to have approximately $1,200 worth of break repairs;

• discussed some mischief around town, notably the toppling of stop signs;

• discussed the working of a police grant, which was filed on Tuesday;

• discussed the railroad being repaired on South Main Street;

• approved to stay with the five-year loan to help pay for the new well pump; and,

• tabled a phone bill issue relating to the health department in Georgiana.
