Sawmills, peanut picking and corn shucking is here again as Old Time Farm Day takes place Saturday.

Old Time Farm Day gives the community an opportunity to learn about the farm and old practices from a farm.

President of the Old Time Farm Day group, Carey Thompson, said the event is one of excitement and fellowship.  “We will have a fun-filled day of running the sawmill, peanut picking, corn shucking and syrup making,” said Thompson.

Throughout the day, the community will have an opportunity to see old tractors, vintage equipment, farm animals, mule and tractor plowing, peanut picking, a cane mill, syrup making, quilting, butter churning, cake walks, a blacksmith, games, a pedal tractor race, a boot race, cotton picking, corn shucking and much more.

“It’s a day the children can get together and play in a safe and family friendly environment, and learn about how things were done back in the old days,” Thompson said.  “It’s also a time that allows the older generation to come together and reminisce about how they grew up.”

There will be several vendors there to sell items including items that are handmade. Some of these items include birdhouses, Alabama and Auburn items, jewelry, necklaces, knives and much more. The event will include vendors from all over the state.

On Friday, the event will be open for children in school from 9 a.m. – noon and it costs $1 per student.

“It’s like a field trip,” Thompson said. “It’s a chance for the school children to come out and see how everything works before the main event on Saturday.”

Regular admission on Saturday is $3 for adults, $2 for school-aged children and free for children six and under.

“Concessions will be available on Saturday, along with live entertainment,” Thompson said.

The location of the Old Time Farm day is 2828 Sand Cut Road and it will be going on from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday.
