Florida man dies during traffic stop on I-65

A Florida man who authorities stopped for driving recklessly died of an unknown medical condition at the scene Thursday.
According to Sgt. Steve Jarrett, spokesman for of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Alabama State Troopers received a call just after 11 a.m. about a reckless driver traveling south on Interstate 65 in Lowndes County.
He said Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and it was discovered that the driver, John Scriver McDowell, 85, of Winter Haven, Fla., was “suffering from an unknown medical condition.”
Jarrett said paramedics were called to the scene, but were unable to save McDowell, who was pronounced dead by the Lowndes County coroner.
No further information is available as authorities continue to investigate.
