Sonic will honor the memory of one of its favorite customers on Aug. 1.
Jeffrey “Jake” Sawyer was a regular at the Greenville restaurant.
“Jake loved chocolate shakes, especially from Sonic,” said Tabbetha King, Sawyer’s mother. “Jake was such a wonderful young man and he had such a good heart.”
Sawyer was killed in a motorcycle accident on July 5.
According to the Alabama State Troopers, Sawyer, 21, and 13-year-old Zackary Smith were killed when the motorcycles they were driving collided.
The accident took place at 10:15 p.m. on Goldsmith Road near White Hall.
When the employees at Sonic learned of Sawyer’s death, they wanted to do something to honor him.
On Aug. 1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. all chocolate shakes will be half price in honor of Sawyer.
“Sonic just wanted a quick and easy way to help out the Sawyer family and give back to them,” said general manager Melonie Harrison.
Sawyer’s family will also be on hand and will be accepting donations to help offset funeral costs, as well as to help assist Sawyer’s two young children.
“We love everyone and know that Jake would be so honored and proud to see everyone come out,” King said.
