Authorities have uncovered gaming machines in Butler County in a rather unexpected location.

According to the Greenville Police Department, a number of gaming machines have been found in the wood line along Hwy. 31 in Greenville.

The machines are arcade-style machines, some of which feature stickers showing that they were licensed to a casino at one point and time. Authorities estimate the machines may be worth $1,000 to $5,000 dollars.

“At this point we’re investigating it at a littering stand point, and possibly a theft,” said Lt. Justin Lovvorn. “We have to try to confirm if the machines were actually stolen or if they were something that somebody didn’t want anymore. We’re contacting all the gaming areas that we know of that would have machines like this and see if they have recently had any thefts or have got rid of some old ones.”

According to police the fine for dumping the machines in the woods could range from $200 to $1,000.

Other gaming machines have been found dumped along Aztec Road, Old Central Road and Hwy. 185. According to the police all the machines were discovered within the last two weeks.
