Betty Hale Kent, 85, a resident of Raleigh, N.C., and a former resident of Pine Apple, Ala., died June 17. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, at Friendship Baptist Church in Pine Apple with Rev. Ray Angerman officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home in Greenville. Mrs. Kent was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Kent; siblings, Ben Hale, Virgil Hale, Carl Hale, and Mabelle Hale Huggins. She is survived by her sons, David Michael Kent of Raleigh, N.C., Stephen Grady Kent of Citrus Heights, Calif., Richard Brian Kent of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; six grandchildren, Ashlyn, Victoria, Christian, Jacob, Scotlyn, Holly; siblings, Byron Hale (Kate) of Albany, Ga., Katharine Hale North (A.D.) of Knoxville, Tenn., Clyde Hale of Springhill, La.; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kent was the former owner of Nanny’s Sitters, Inc. and she and her husband organized the March for Jesus celebrations in Fort Walton Beach for approximately 13 years.
