Mr. Howard James Horne, 79, a resident of Honoraville was called home to be with the Lord on June 9 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at Danielville Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Looney and Rev. Joe Leverette officiating. Interment will follow in Panola Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Horne is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Burdia Horne and a brother, Grady Horne. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ruby Best Horne; two sons, Kenny (Christine) Horne and Randy (Glenda) Horne; four grandchildren, Jim (Cara) Horne, Kenny (Staci) Horne, Dusty (Danielle) Horne and Brandy Horne; one great granddaughter, Bristol Sampley; a brother, Elson (Peggy) Horne; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Kanah and Miriam Best, Paul and Judy Best, Annie Best, and Sally Best. Howard retired from Sears after 42 years of service. He loved his Lord, his family, and playing softball. Active pallbearers will be Jim Horne, Kenny Horne, Dusty Horne, Mickey Horne, Rev. Kenny Horn, and Rodney Best. Herman Pierce and Johnny Andrews will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The body will lie-in-state at the church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until service time. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Margaret Foster and Southeast Hospice for their loving care during Howard’s illness.
