Bitten by the acting bug? South Montgomery County Academy could be looking for you.
“I just wanted to put a plea out for SMCA,” said Dean Kelly. “They are in need of three females and two males for a play.”
Kelly said the play is a comedy titled “The Veggie Villian – or He Had a Steak in it.”
“It is a dinner theatre play at SMCA in Grady,” Kelly said.
The play is under the direction of Pat Norman, who has directed plays at the school for many years.
The play will be held April 11, but rehearsals are currently ongoing.
It is described as “loaded with pun after pun, you’ll laugh ‘til the cows come home in this hysterical ‘mellerdrammer.’
According to the Pioneer Drama Service, “when the Texas Rangers clamp down on cattle rustlers, arch villain Artie Choke and his partner Barry Smelly decide they’ll rustle cattle the honest way – by inheriting the largest herd.”
In order to do that, Artie must woo and wed the owner of the herd, Mary Nated, and then dispose of her. Instead, Texas Ranger Chuck Roast has caught her eye instead. The play is filled with comedy as it continues through the story.
They need three men in the teenagers and up category and three women in the teenagers and young adults category.
