Local candidates qualify for elections

The Butler County Democratic and Republican parties have announced their respective qualifying candidates for the upcoming local elections.
Cleve Poole, chairman of the Butler County Republican party, announced Walter Parmer would be running for the District 3 position on the Butler County School Board, as well as two candidates for the State House of Representatives seat for District 90.
“In the State House of Representatives, we have two candidates,” Poole said.
“One is Charles Newton, who has been a lifelong Democrat and switched over to the Republican Party last week. And running against him is Chris Sells.”
Probate Judge Steve Norman also reported a number of Democratic candidates qualifying for various offices:

Candidates were required to qualify by 5 p.m. Friday for their respective races
The party primary elections are scheduled for June 3. If necessary after the primaries, runoff elections have been scheduled for July 15, with the general election to be held on Nov. 4.
