Butler County schools will be closed Tuesday because of expected snow and possible ice.

Fort Dale Academy will also be closed Tuesday.

Amy Bryan, director of federal programs for the Butler County Board of Education, attended Monday’s weather webinar with the Butler County Emergency Management Agency in the superintendent’s stead.

The webinar was prompted by the winter weather watch that the county was placed under, and Bryan said that the choice to close Butler County schools on Tuesday wasn’t much of a choice at all.

“The decision to close on Tuesday was easy when the county made the decision to close the roads because of the freezing precipitation that they are expecting to accumulate,” Bryan said.

“Therefore, it was easy to decide to close the schools–we wouldn’t want school buses and parents transporting kids in that kind of situation.”

Officials with the public school system and Fort Dale are expected to make an announcement Tuesday morning about whether or not school will be in session Wednesday after reconvening with the Butler County EMA.
