Eulav “Joan” Phillips Seekers, 73, of Selma, Ala., died Dec. 27, 2013.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Terrell Wayne Seekers; sisters, Gladys Arnold of Gramerton, N.C., and Myrtle Green of Gastonia, N.C.; brothers, Denford Phillips (Ginger) of Springhill, Fla., and Charles Phillips (Barbara) of Luverne, Ala.; sons, Walter Wayne Seekers (Peggy) of Marion Junction, Ala., and Floyd Williams Seekers (Eva) of Jones, Ala.; daughter, Shellia Ann McCarthy (Kenny) of Luverne, Ala.; grandsons, Jody Austin Rogers (Heather) of Luverne, Ala., Jeremy Thomas Nichols (Lauren) of Selma, Ala., Chad William Seekers (Crystal) of Selma, Ala., and Terry Frank Gatlin of Atlanta; granddaughters, Ashley Victoria Seekers Fancher (Robbie) of Valley Grande, Ala., and Nancy Caroline Nichols of Oklahoma City, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Addison Grace Fancher, James Allen McCray, Cashe’ Renee Seekers, Emmerson Hayes Fancher, Chase Wayne Rogers, Jacob Aston Rogers, Drake Aaron Thomas Nichols, Peyton Huffman, Evangeline Rose Seekers,; and a special friend and neighbor, Steve Reid.
Mrs. Seekers is preceeded in death by her parents, Johnny Walter and Nancy Victoria Odem Phillips; brother, Dempsey Phillips (Ruby) of Luverne, Ala.; and sister, Myrts Milton (Harley) of Gastonia, N.C.
Funeral services were held Dec. 30, 2013, at Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Brantley, Ala., with Rev. Bernie Enzor and Rev. Charles Phillips officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial followed at Pleasant Home Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jody Austin Rogers, Chad Williams Seekers, Jeremy Thomas Nichols, Robbie DeWayne Fancher, Steve Reid and Kenny Harris.
