The Luverne High School dance team, under the direction of Daun Long Pittman, had the opportunity to compete in the 2014 UDA Championships this past Saturday.

The competition was held in Birmingham at Spain Park High School.

The LA Tigers represented Luverne by taking third place in the hip hop division with their “Nerds” routine and fourth place in jazz with their “Circus” routine.

Dancers who were nominated and chosen as All-American dancers this past summer competed in the senior solo division.

The dance team is a newly formed dance team that started last year.

It consists of seventh through eleventh grade girls.

Pittman said this is only their second time at competition only competing against 6A schools.

“Their dancing skills have improved tremendously over the past year, and their hard work and dedication has paid off,” she said.
