If one of your New Year’s resolutions was to scale back, then you may be interested in taking part in the statewide weight-loss program, Scale Back Alabama.
Beginning with weigh-ins, scheduled Jan. 20-24, the program will last 10 weeks.
Carrie Bryan of the Crenshaw County Health Department said in a letter that the program is designed to capitalize on those New Year’s resolutions and create a fun atmosphere for weight loss and physical activity.
“We’re asking employees interested in losing weight to form teams of four individuals (including a captain) and to sign up during the week of Jan. 20-24,” she said. “The goal of the contest is to get each individual on a team to lose one pound per week for a total of 10 pounds during the contest.”
Those who participate and lose the 10 pounds will be placed in a hat for cash prizes, and teams that maintain all of the original members and lose 10 pounds each will have their team name places in a drawing.
The first team will win $1,000; second team $500 and then third $250.
“May-be you’ve thought about eating healthier, but just needed that extra push; well here’s your chance,” Bryan said.
Those interested in participating, should go to the health department from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Jan. 20-24.
