The Alabama Sports Writers Association announced their 2013 All-State football teams last week, and a pair of local players made the team for their respective class.
Fort Dale Academy seniors Chase Whiddon and Chip Taylor were named to the AISA squad.
Whiddon, a senior linebacker, was named to the first team defense.
The 5-foot-11, 21- pounder also played running back for the Eagles.
Taylor, Fort Dale’s quarterback, received honorable mention honors.
Both Whiddon and Taylor took part in the AISA All-Star football game on Dec. 6.
The pair helped guide the Eagles to a 6-5 finish this season. Fort Dale was eliminated from the postseason in the first round by Kingwood Christian School.
There were no other players from Butler County named to the team.
