Column: Aiming to live a better life in 2014

C
hristmas Day has passed us by, and we are all looking forward to a new year.
I’m not usually one for New Year’s Resolutions, but I’ve decided that in 2014 I’m going to take a shot at it.
My resolution is a change in lifestyle, but not one of those crazy fad diet and exercise kinds.
It’s just simply to live better, and not just in terms of dieting or exercising, but also spiritually, mentally and emotionally – to live a better, more healthy life.
I’m promising myself I’ll smile more and laugh often and I’ll take time to enjoy the small things in life and the people who are near and dear to my heart, after all we aren’t promised tomorrow.
And if 2013 has taught me anything, it’s that things can change in a blink of an eye.
Life can be such a whirlwind that we all forget to stop and live.
And living is much more fun than just existing.
To me, existing is going about your everyday life without enjoying what you do or enjoying whom you’re around.
I’m also promising to have more family time and more suppers at the kitchen table rather than convenience store pizza because it’s just that –convenient.
