Hospital earns Excellence through Insight Award

L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital has been named a 2013 Excellence through lnsight award recipient for “Overall Employee Satisfaction” by HealthStream, Inc.
L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital received the award for its commitment to excellence in employee satisfaction.
To qualify for an award, a hospital must have been an employee client of HealthStream in 2012 and scored in the 75th percentile or better. L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital was chosen for receiving the highest ratings in the small hospital category.
“We applaud L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital’s high level of commitment to excellence in healthcare, and we are pleased to recognize their achievement through our presentation of an Excellence through Insight award,” said Robert A. Frist, Jr., HealthStream CEO.
L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital interim CEO Connie Nicholas said the hospital’s Community Cares program played a role in the hospital receiving the award.
“Our hospital is dedicated to improving patient outcomes through the development of our staff, our greatest asset,” she said. “This year we were ranked No. 1 in our company and have been in the top two ranked hospital positions for three consecutive years. Upon hire, every employee signs a pledge to adhere to the highest commitment for our Community Cares culture and standards of behavior. Each employee is held accountable for these standards of behavior which include attitude, appearance, commitment to co-workers, communication, customer waiting, privacy, responsiveness, safety awareness, service recovery and sense of ownership. This commitment to our Community Cares program creates a culture and practice of outstanding service to each other and the customers we serve.”
L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital has also been named a “top performer on key quality measures” by the Joint Commission, which accredits health care organizations across the country.
L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital, along with 32 other Alabama hospitals and 1,098 others in the nation to receive the honor this year. The designation marks the third year in a row that the hospital has been named to the list.
L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital was recognized for its surgical care and pneumonia care.
Earlier this year, L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital received an “A” grade in the Fall 2013 update to the Hospital Safety Score, which rates hospital safety based on outcomes from medical treatment.
The Hospital Safety Score is compiled under the guidance of experts on patient safety and is administered by The Leapfrog Group, an independent industry watchdog.
Calculated under the guidance of Leapfrog’s Blue Ribbon Expert Panel, the report uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” score representing a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm.
L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital was one of 14 hospitals in Alabama to receive an “A” grade.
