As John Hoeven once said, “From the world wars of Europe to the jungles of the Far East, from the deserts of the Middle East to the African continent, and even here in our own hemisphere, our veterans have made the world a better place and America the great country we are today.”

In true Luverne fashion, Hilda Maddox and company, have been working diligently to put together the Crenshaw County Veterans Day Celebration.

Maddox said this week that there will be a short program with local veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and from recent war speaking.

“They will share a little bit about their time in the service,” she said. “It’s going to be great.”

Maddox said Leo Williams, Mayor Joe Rex Sport, William McDougald and Anthony Lowery will all take their turns at the podium to share with the community about their service.

“Everyone is invited to attend, especially our veterans,” she said. “There’s no need to RSVP, just show up.”

The event will begin Monday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. at the Dei Center of Luverne United Methodist Church.

Other Veterans Day Programs going on around the county, include:

• Highland Home School, Wednesday at 1 p.m.

• Luverne High School, Thursday at 9:45 a.m., in the LHS auditorium. A reception will be held at 9 a.m. in the high school library for veterans.

• Brantley School, Friday, 10:30 a.m., in the school’s gymnasium.
