Profile a chance to tell great stories

It’s almost that time again.
Each year beginning in October the staff of The Greenville Advocate begins to work on Profile — an annual magazine that puts the focus on members of our community.
It’s a chance for our staff to tell some great stories — your stories.
Last year our magazine featured stories on Butler County natives and their hobbies. We had everything from a skydiver, to a racecar driver, to street performer.
We had a blast learning about our neighbors and the things that get their motors running.
It was so much fun in fact that we’re hoping to be able to tell similar stories again this year.
But instead of hobbies like long-distance running, creating stained glass art, or roping, we’re hoping to share stories of amazing collections put together by folks right here in Butler County.
Some of the collections may be quite valuable.
Others may have more sentimental value than anything else.
We’d love to have the chance to see both, and learn about the collection and the collector.
We know that the reasons people collect things are as varied as the things they collect. Maybe you collect coins because your grandfather gave you an old coin when you were just a kid. Maybe you collect classic cars because you like to roll the windows down and cruise the back roads in a piece of history. Maybe you collect autographs as a way to remember encounters you had with notable personalities.
Whatever the collection, it tells a story — your story.
We’d like to help you share your story with our friends and neighbors.
If you, or someone you know, has an interesting collection, let us know about it.
You can call the office at (334) 382-3111 or email me at andy.brown@greenvilleadvocate.com.
Along with highlighting our neighbors and their collections in Profile, we’ll also honor our Person of the Year.
If you’d like to nominate someone, you can call the office or email me. Be sure to tell us why you think that person is deserving of the honor.
We look forward to hearing from you.
