Pine Flat Methodist to celebrate homecoming

Fellowship and worship will take place at Pine Flat Methodist Church as it celebrate its annual homecoming and Memorial Day observance at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at the historical white frame church located west of Greenville on Hwy. 10
The Rev. Dan Rhodes, retired pastor at New Prospect and Pentecostal United Methodist Churches in Dadeville, Ala., will deliver the message. Rhodes, a Dadeville native, attended seminary at Emory’s Chandler School of Theology in Atlanta where he earned his Master of Divinity, has spent 40 years serving as a pastor at churches in the Alabama-West Florida Methodist Conference before retiring in 2004. During his ministry, Rhodes served as a tour host with Educational Opportunities, the Wesley Heritage tour in England and Paul’s Missionary Journeys to Athens and Rome, as well as leading mission work teams to Central America.
Special music will be provided by Mrs. Charles Terry, Jr. and Mrs. Ken Renfroe, with Mr. Hubbard Smith serving as music director.
Myralyn Trawick Watson will lead the memorial service, with Mr. and Mrs. McDuffie Stallworth, Mrs. Larry Smith, Mrs. Wayne Wall and Mrs. Billy Dees serving as registrars. Mary Helen Terry will serve as the acolyte.
The trustees of the Pine Flat Cemetery Association invite all family members, those with ancestral connections and friends to attend the annual event. The morning worship service will be followed by dinner on the grounds. Bring a basket lunch, folding chairs, folding tables, and enjoy the great Christian fellowship.
