Exhibitors from across the United States will descend on Fort Deposit Saturday for the 42nd annual Calico Fort Arts and Crafts Fair.
The event, which runs through Sunday and is sponsored by the Fort Deposit Arts Council, is one of the oldest and largest arts and crafts fairs in the south.
This year’s event is expected to feature more than 125 exhibitors from 10 states including Wisconsin, Tennessee, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Indiana and of course Alabama, according to Frieda Cross, president of the Fort Deposit Arts Council.
“The fairgoers will be enchanted with the variety of handmade arts and crafts and the many artists in all mediums,” Cross said.
The Amateur Radio W4C Special Events Station will also be back this year, as will a miniature logging demonstration created by an enthusiastic logger from Washington.
Cross said continuous entertainment will be scheduled for the natural amphitheater and these artists are still being contacted. And a variety of food will be available.
Tickets for the event are $4 for adults and $1 for children.
The proceeds raised from the event will be donated to numerous charitable organizations.
