A Georgiana woman is dead after a four-vehicle crash Thursday night on Alabama Hwy. 55.
The accident occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. at the 46.5-mile marker, just north of Red Level.
An Alabama State Trooper spokesman said Linda Rich Knight, who would have turned 48 Friday, was ejected from her 2006 Chevrolet. Knight, a customer service manager at the Andalusia Walmart, was apparently on her way to work when the accident occurred, co-workers said Friday.
Authorities aren’t releasing the circumstances surrounding the wreck; however, the names of others involved were given. They were:
• Wyatt Sexton of McKenzie, the 20-year-old driver of a 2008 Nissan;
• Ellen Marie Kelley, 49, of Andalusia and the driver of a 2003 Chrysler.
The fourth vehicle, a 2007 Hyundai, was parked, the Trooper spokesperson said.
Both Sexton and Kelley were transported for treatment – one via Life Flight to an unknown trauma center with serious injuries; and the other to Andalusia Regional Hospital with minor injuries. It wasn’t immediately clear who was transported where, the spokesman said.
Covington County Sheriff Deputies, Red Level police and area volunteer fire departments also responded to the scene.
The accident remains under investigation, the spokesman said.
