Terry Mears has resigned from his post as Dozier Police Chief, a move that took effect last Friday.

“I appreciate the opportunity I had to work in the town I grew up in,” he said.

Mears had served as the Chief of Police since Dec. 2008.

At Monday’s County Commission meeting, the Commission discussed the possibility of hiring another deputy at the Sheriff’s request to help cover the Dozier area if a new policeman was not hired.
