Amy Bryan, Federal Programs Director for the Butler County Board of Education, was recently elected president of the Alabama Community Education Association (ACEA).

ACEA is a statewide organization of more than 400 educators in afterschool, summer school and community education programs.

Bryan previously held the position of president-elect. As president-elect, Bryan was responsible for the organization of the annual statewide conference that was held March 6-8 at Montgomery’s Renaissance Hotel & Spa. Bryan led coordination of the conference including five general sessions, 35 breakout sessions, 16 vendors, and five meals served to 422 attendees. Keynote speakers included John Croyle of Big Oak Ranch, Roger Shultz of Biggest Loser, former Auburn Coach Pat Dye, and Alabama Department of Education’s Chief of Staff Craig Pouncey.

As president, Bryan will lead the organization through state-wide communication networking; promoting professional opportunities for members; leading at board meetings; and assisting the new president-elect, Felicia Padgett of Gadsden City Schools, with the planning of the 2014 annual conference.

Bryan has 13 years of teaching experience and 12 years of experience as a system administrator – all in Butler County Schools. In addition to ACEA membership, Bryan is also a member of the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools, the Alabama Association of Federal Education Programs Administrators, the Butler County Children’s Policy Council, and a board member of the Butler County Children’s Advocacy Center (Safe Harbor).

Bryan was presented a dozen long-stemmed pink roses at her installation as president from the seven Butler County members of ACEA.
