Bulldogs cruise past Panthers

J.U. Blacksher High School plated seven runs in each of the first two innings to cruise to a 21-2 win over Georgiana School Thursday in Uriah.
The Bulldogs, who added seven more runs in the fourth inning, won the mercy-rule shortened contest in five innings.
J.U. Blacksher tallied 10 hits and 12 RBIs in the contest, while taking advantage of five Georgiana errors to earn the win.
The Panthers managed just three hits in the contest.
Georgiana’s Justin Oikle led the Panthers’ offensive effort.
He finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI.
Matt Sheffield was 1-for-3 with a double.
Sheffield suffered the loss on the mound.
He tossed 1.2 innings, allowing 14 runs, 11 of which were earned, on seven hits and six walks. He struck out two batters.
Oikle finished the game on the mound for Georgiana. He pitched 2.1 innings, allowing seven runs, one of which was earned, on three hits and a walk.
Georgiana traveled to face Class 5A Wilcox Central High School Friday. Results were not available at press time. The Panthers will host J.U. Blacksher Monday at 4 p.m.
