Greenville police arrested a woman on Sunday as the suspect in a stabbing incident.
Erika McCall, 21, is charged with domestic violence, 1st degree, said Lt. Anthony Barganier, police spokesperson.
“The arrest was made after officers investigated a reported stabbing in the 900 block of Valley Dr.,” said Barganier.
Police talked with Dexter Burnett, 33, at the emergency room of L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital, said Barganier, where he was being treated for injuries.
“Burnett told officers that his wife, (McCall), had stabbed him in the stomach,” said Barganier.
McCall has since been released from the Butler County Correctional Facility on bond, said Barganier, and the case is still under investigation.
In unrelated incidents, Barganier said police investigators recovered a $518 air conditioner and $100 stereo amplifier stolen during a church burglary in late June. Officers arrested Freddie Lee Scarver, 46, charging him with two counts of receiving stolen property.
Scarver remains in custody, said Barganier.
Officers also arrested five juveniles believed responsible for a burglary attempt on Lucille St. on Saturday night. Barganier said officers responded to a a silent alarm inside the home where motion had been detected. The GPD K-9 unit was deployed and the juvenile suspects were apprehended, said Barganier. The juveniles were released into the custody of their parents, he said.
“I want to commend the officers in their efforts and thank the public for their continued cooperation and support in working with the officers to help deter crime in our city,” said Chief Lonzo Ingram. – From Staff Reports
