Greenville Recreational League All-Stars to compete

Several Greenville All-Star basketball teams will be hitting the road later this month to compete for a chance to go on to state.
The winners from all divisions will move on to the state tournament in Gadsden, said Greenville Parks and Recreation director Jerome Harris.
All district competitions will be held Feb. 26.
The senior boy’s All-Stars will play in Dothan. The senior boys drew a by their first round and will face the winner of Enterprise and Dothan.
Eleven and twelve-year-old girl’s All-Stars will travel to Geneva High School and face Eufaula at 11:30 a.m.
Ten and under boy’s All-Stars will play at Geneva Middle School, facing off against host Geneva at 12:45.
Fourteen and under boy’s All-Stars will travel to Eufaula and play Abbeville starting at 9 a.m.
Twelve and under boy’s will play Troy in Andalusia starting at 9 a.m.
Eight and under boy’s All-Star will be hosted in Greenville. They will face the winner of Abbeville and Geneva at Noon. Eight and under girl’s All-Stars will also be hosted in Greenville, with the Greenville girls playing Geneva at 2 p.m.
Harris said this year has been a good year for rec league basketball.
“We had a little larger participation than we have in the past,” said Harris. “I think we got just as good of a chance as any to win at the state level.”
Harris said that all that matters, however, is that the kids have fun.
