The Greenville Police Department arrested two Luverne men Thursday night in connection with an armed robbery of Dollar General.
“We got a call around 8:30 p.m. that the store was being robbed,” Lt. Justin Lovvorn said. “We saturated the area with officers and shortly after the incident we located the first suspect.”
Lt. Kenneth Parker located Charles Gregory, 30, hiding near Clayton Homes. Gregory was still in possession of the handgun. The second suspect, Clifford Gregory Jr., 37, was later located at a traffic stop in Crenshaw County after the GPD issued a lookout for his vehicle. Both men confessed and have been charged with robbery, first degree.
Authorities searched the area near the store and located a mask used in the robbery as well as a portion of the nearly $300 stolen from the store.
“I’m pleased with the way our patrol responded and acted in cooperation with our investigators to solve this case,” Chief Lonzo Ingram said.
