A two-vehicle crash Wednesday claimed the life of a Georgiana child.

Carter Hanson, 6, was killed when the 2007 Pontiac he was a passenger in was struck from behind by a 2005 Ford driven by Jeffrey Rutherford of Red Level. The crash, which happened five miles north of Red Level, occurred at 5 p.m. on Hwy. 55 at mile marker 45.  Hanson’s mother, Tiffany Hanson, the driver of the Pontiac, was taken to a local hospital and treated for her injuries.

No additional information is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
