A pair of Luverne roads will be getting a facelift soon following the approval of the Luverne City Council on Monday night.
The Glenwood Highway and the Patsburg Highway will both be repaved to the city limits.
“Back when we were talking about this and the council voted to proceed, we anticipated the cost to be about $200,000,” said city engineer Morris Tate. “We got a bid of $182,000 from Wiregrass Construction, which is an excellent bid.”
Wiregrass Construction is currently handling the repaving of Highway 29 in Luverne.
The Glenwood Highway project will start at the intersection of the road and Highway 331 (in front of Mattie’s) and will stretch to where the county’s paving picks up at the city limits.
Tate said the city paved about half a mile of the Patsburg Highway several years ago, and that project will begin there and go to the city limits.
Tate also said both projects will hopefully be started in January.
In other business, Mayor Joe Rex Sport said that the new piece for the town clock should be installed soon to have the timepiece up and running.
He said that UPS shipped the mechanism last Friday and it was scheduled for delivery on Tuesday.
“Given the holiday season, it may be a little late, but it shouldn’t take too long to put it in,” he said.
