With presidential and local races hitting the home stretch, citizens are reminded that Friday, Oct. 26 is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election.
According to the Alabama Secretary of State’s office, to register to vote, an individual must be a U.S. Citizen, reside in Alabama, be at least 18 years old, have not been convicted of disqualifying felony (but can have rights restored), and have not been declared “mentally incompetent” by a court.
For those interested in registering to vote, the Crenshaw County Registrar’s Office is located on the first floor of the county courthouse or can be reached at 335-6568.
Probate Judge Jim Perdue also said that Nov. 1 is the last day for absentee ballot applications to be received.
“If anyone is in doubt about absentee voting, I encourage them to call our absentee ballot manager, Sandra Berry, at the courthouse,” he said.
Overall, Perdue said he expects a good turnout for this election.
“We had very few decisions made in the primaries and run-offs,” he said. “We also want to people to make plans to vote early on Nov. 6 and to bring an ID to the polling place.”
