Turnovers and penalties spelled trouble for the Highland Home Flying Squadron in a 30-15 loss to the Goshen Eagles on Friday night.

“We just didn’t play very well,” said Highland Home head coach Tom Pinkston.

The Flying Squadron had 14 penalties for 125 yards to go with three interceptions and two lost fumbles.

“We stopped the in the second quarter and a little of the third, but then they broke out again in the fourth,” he said.

The Squadron’s two touchdowns came courtesy of Marquise Randle and John Dunn, and both were rushing scores.

“Between the penalties and the turnovers, that was pretty much it,” Pinkston said.

Before this week, the Squadron had a 3-2 record in region play and were battling for a playoff spot, but this loss puts the postseason in jeopardy.

“I think we still have a shot, but we need to beat Elba,” Pinkston said. “If we don’t beat them, we’re out.”

The Squadron travels to Elba next Friday night.
