The Alabama Independent School Association recently presented an award to Crenshaw Christian Academy as the recipient of the AISA Class A President’s Award winner for the 2011-2012 school year.

The presentation was made at the annual AISA Professional Development Day earlier this month.

The President’s Award was established by the AISA for the specific purpose of recognizing member schools that achieve academic excellence during the school year.

“The President’s Award takes into account all the test scores, scholarship money, teacher certification, clubs, how organizations perform in state competitions, and more,” said Angela Carpenter, who served as principal for CCA during the 2011-12 year. “We earned over $500,000 in scholarship money this year.”

According to the AISA, the criteria for winning the President’s Award includes achievement in all areas of school excellence such as: standardized testing, scholarships, academic scholars, academic competitions, professional personnel standards and development, accreditation, and other activities that celebrate excellence in academics.

In addition to winning the President’s Award, CCA was also awarded the Chairman’s Award for Class A, which recognizes a school for athletic excellence.

The criteria for winning the AISA Chairman’s Award includes achievement in all areas of the school’s athletic programs: state champions in all sports, All-Star Selection, scholarship, participation in different sports, finishing in the top four in State Play-offs, sportsmanship, student-athlete award, and no eligibility problems.

The AISA President’s Award program is sponsored by the AISA to recognize member schools with outstanding educational programs, and the Chairman’s Award recognizes outstanding athletic programs.

The AISA has declared that Crenshaw Christian Academy has attained a high level of excellence in the areas of student and teacher performance, plant and facilities, student life, community involvement, and athletics and is a worthy recipient of both honors.
