Big ones, little ones, orange, green, red and even white. Pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere, courtesy of the Greenville American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary Post #24 and their annual Pumpkin Patch Sale.
The members have already been selling pumpkin tickets in advance and will continue selling them through October 30, says Post Commander Walter Parmer.
You can check out the colorful plethora of pumpkins and ornamental gourds available in person at two different locations.
Visit the American Legion Building at 100 Legion Road, right next to the fairgrounds each Saturday in October from 9 a.m. to noon and each Sunday through Friday in October from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (you might even get in on a domino game).
Or, come to Fred’s parking lot in Gateway Plaza from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, October 16 or Saturday, October 23. Prices range from $5 for a small pumpkin and three decorative gourds to $20 for a large pumpkin. A limited amount of Halloween candy is also for sale.
“Bring your children and watch their eyes light up when they select their own favorite pumpkin. It’s a great Kodak moment, so bring your camera, too,” said Parmer.
Proceeds from the sale go to sponsor Girls State and Boys State and to the High School Oratorical Scholarship Program.
“We are trying to make this a little bigger and better each year,”
Parmer said. “We certainly appreciate everyone for supporting us.”
