Newton named to First Citizens Bank board of directors

Rep. Charles Newton has been elected to Board of Directors for First Citizens Bank.
William Petrey, President and Chief Executive Officer at First Citizens Bank, made the announcement on Thursday.
Newton, who was first elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 1989, will officially join the board on October 1.
“As Rep. Newton assumes his new position, each of us at First Citizens Bank is proud to begin this affiliation,” Petrey said. “He brings to our board a sound business philosophy, common sense, commitment to community and impeccable character. Our customers will be the ultimate beneficiaries of his experience and leadership as we move forward with the philosophy to provide ‘service solutions and strength.’”
Newton said he is excited to have the opportunity to serve on the board.
“It will be a privilege to work with the employees and directors of the bank with its long-standing reputation of service to its customers and community,” Newton said. “We will work to continue this tradition of assisting individuals, businesses and communities of south Alabama in reaching personal, professional and civic goals.”
Newton is President of Newton Oil Company and is a member of the Greenville Rotary Club, Alabama Cattlemen’s Association and the Alabama Historical Association. He is a graduate of Greenville High School and earned both his Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Arts degree from the University of Alabama.
First Citizens Bank has locations in Greenville, Luverne, Ft. Deposit, Hayneville and Highland Home.
