McKenzie’s Armond Ball lit up the Florala Wildcats to the tune of 302 yards rushing in the Tigers’ 55-0 win last night.
“He ran hard, and he was able to get a lot of his runs because the offensive line opened up tremendous holes all night long,” said head coach Miles Brown.
The first quarter saw Ball break off a pair of 39-yard touchdown runs, while he added runs from four and six yards out in the second quarter.
Chuck Thompson also got in on the scoring action, and McKenzie led 34-0 at halftime.
Ball took the opening kick of the third quarter and ran 67 yards for yet another touchdown, and before the quarter was over, he matched that with a 67-yard run from scrimmage.
Xavier Smith put the final score of the night on the board for the Tigers.
Overall, Ball had 19 carries for 302 yards rushing and five touchdowns, along with 67 kick return yards and a touchdown.
On the defensive side, Brandon Sellers had 16 tackles, Ethan Davis had 15 tackles and a sack, Bradley Bush had 12 tackles, Kendrick Ball recorded nine, Xavier Smith contributed eight and Richard Ballard added seven tackles.
“We came out and were very physical, we did what we were coached to do, and we played good football,” Brown said.
McKenzie hosts Ariton for its home opener next week at Williams-Vickery Field.
The Tigers moved to 1-0 in the region with the victory on Friday night.
