Minimal impact expected from Isaac

Following a morning briefing with Jeff Garmon of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, Crenshaw County EMA director Jessica Seabrook said the expected impact for the county to be “minimal.”
Garmon said that Tropical Storm Isaac is not intensifying as expected, and hurricane-force winds are not predicted for the Alabama Gulf Coast.
“It is passing due south of Mobile now, and we don’t expect a hard turn to the northeast,” he said.
Tropical storm-force winds can reach up to 200 miles from the center of the storm, but even so, the wind impact for Crenshaw County should be low.
Heavy rain remains the biggest concern for the county, though rainfall projections predict less than six inches for Luverne and the surrounding areas.
