McKenzie kept its flawless record intact, defeating Geneva County on the road 46-12.
The Tigers now tout a 4-0 overall record, with a 3-0 record in the region.
The Tigers started off the game by giving up 6 points to Geneva County on a kickoff return.
The Tiger offense, however, struck back with a vengeance. Sir Wallace Presley hit Cliff Pugh for a 30-yard touchdown, but the Tigers failed to convert the extra point, tying the game 6-6.
“We are still making too many mistakes,” said coach Miles Brown. “We can’t keep making mental mistakes.”
Brown said his players still need work knowing all their assignments.
McKenzie grabbed the lead with a 7-yard quarterback keeper. Again, the extra point was no good bringing the tally to 12-6.
As has been the case with the three previous McKenzie match-ups, once the touchdowns start coming, they keep coming. Jakarr Adams ran in a 3-yarder, and Wallace found Pugh for 2, making the score 20-6.
Xavier Smith dissected the Geneva County defense, running 35-yards for the touchdown. The point after was no good; 26-6.
Presley racked up another 6 with a quarterback keeper, but failed to convert the two-after. Before the half ended, Presley hit Emmanuel Johnson with a 10-yard touchdown pass, and dished it off to Pugh for the extra 2. McKenzie led at half, 40-6.
On the first drive of the second half, Presley kept it for a 31-yard touchdown and the final Tiger score of the day.
McKenzie travels to Red Level on Friday.
