The 14th annual CorStone Pro-Law Am Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 5 at Cambrian Ridge.

The event, which will be played in a four-person scramble format, will raise funds for the Butler County Children’s Advocacy Center and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 39.

“The proceeds from this tournament are split between our local FOP Lodge and the Butler County Children’s Advocacy Center,” said Mark Harold, event coordinator and president of the FOP Lodge.

The tournament will begin at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $100 per person and just $60 for law enforcement officers. The entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, cart rental, range balls, use of the practice green and dinner.

Registration for the event will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Harold said the absolutely perfect number of golfers would be 130.

“We always need more golfers,” Harold said. “We need everybody local to tell their friends or family members abroad about the tournament and bring them into town for it because it is very hard to play at Cambrian Ridge or a Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail course for the price that we’re giving for everything.”

For those who many not want to participate in the tournament, a donation can still be made by purchasing a $10 golf ball that will be part of the helicopter drop.

“One of our greatest events is the golf ball drop the day of the tournament,” Harold said. “That is the perfect way that people that do not play golf but want to contribute to this event, and possibly win a $1,000.”

At 12:30 p.m. all the golf balls will be loaded into a Dale County Sheriff’s Department helicopter. The helicopter will fly over the driving range and release the balls. If a ball lands in the hole, the owner of that ball will receive $1,000. If there is a not a golf ball that lands in the hole, the owner of the golf ball closest to the pin will receive $500.

Golf ball tickets can be purchased at the Butler County Children’s Advocacy Center.

“The funds are used by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge as a way of supporting our local law enforcement officers in times of need such as family tragedies,” Harold said. “We’re all in support of (the Butler County Children’s Advocacy Center’s) efforts and what they do for our local children who are victims of abuse or other family situations that may occur and we support that heavily. We try to make this their largest fundraiser of the year.”
