The Crenshaw County All-Stars are two wins away from winning the state title in the 12-year old Dixie Youth State Tournament in Hokes Bluff.
So far, the team has pulled out three one-run wins in the first three games of the tournament.
The All-Stars defeated Munford 5-4, Headland 7-6, and Monroe County 8-7 on Wednesday.
The team played Alexandria last night, but results were unavailable at press time.
“We’re fighters,” said coach Quinn Renfroe. “We were down 6-2 against Monroe County in the sixth inning and came back to win in the seventh inning. It’s been a 100 percent team effort.”
The team is composed of players from across Crenshaw County.
The All-Stars are the only team in the tournament without a loss.
“If we win tonight and win tomorrow, we’re going straight to the championship,” Renfroe said on Wednesday.
