The McKenzie High School class of 2010 strolled across Williams-Vickery field Thursday night for one last night of pomp and circumstance.

Some 33 graduates marched out to the processional played by Mrs. Carol Williams.

Caitlin Bozeman and Paula Till sung the national anthem before salutatorian Marcus Mitchell took the podium to address the crowd.

“We’ve all said I can’t wait to grow up,” Mitchell said. “Now it’s our chance to prove it.”

Mitchell left the audience with a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson.

“Do not got where the path may lead,” Mitchell started. “Instead, go where there is no path and leave a trail.”

Till and Bozeman took the microphones again for their rendition of “This is my Now” by Jordin Sparks, and then yielded the podium to valedictorian Constance Ward.

“Can you believe we finally made it?” Ward asked.

Ward thanked faculty, staff, family and friends for all they have done.

“We couldn’t have done it without you,” Ward said.

Ward left the crowd with one final remainder.

“This is only the beginning,” Ward said. “Now its time to show the world that McKenzie High class of 2010 is the best of all.”
