A Butler County man has been charged in the stabbing death of his own brother, said Sheriff Kenny Harden on Sunday.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence on Armstrong Rd. in McKenzie at approximately 2 p.m. on Saturday, said Harden, where they discovered the body of Jimmy William Martin, 55, lying in the yard. Harden said deputies arrested Terry Martin, 53, the brother of the deceased, and charged him with the murder.
Harden said investigators recovered a pocket knife from Terry Martin believed to have been used in the murder.
“The victim had been stabbed multiple times,” said Harden.
Harden said Terry Martin was also the lead suspect in a theft that had happened earlier in the day at the McKenzie Mall convenience store. A person believed to be Terry Martin had entered the store, picked up a case of beer and walked out without paying, said Harden.
Terry Martin is in custody at the Butler County Correctional Facility and will go before District Judge MacDonald Russell on Tuesday.
Harden said the body of Jimmy William Martin has been sent to the state forensics department for an autopsy.
